How One Tech Company Might Have A Handle On Preventing Gun Violence

The debate over gun control is clearly going to last from now until the end of time; without much (if any) progress being made. Meanwhile, only a few months into 2018 has yielded 23 school shootings according to CNN. Clearly, there is a need for an immediate solution.

While politicians continue to debate on Capitol Hill some companies have taken charge and invested both time and money into preventative measures. Luckily, technology is moving at an incredibly fast pace, and one company, Solution Sensors has been hard at work the last few years developing technology aimed at preventing these tragedies from happening.

Solution Sensors Becomes The Ultimate Solution

With new technology developed by Solution Sensors, Inc. points towards a solution outside the political box of gun regulations. By adopting this technology, it may be possible to detect these disasters before they occur.

The device developed by Solution Sensors is truly one-of-a-kind and unlike anything on the market today. The sensor created can detect the natural emissions, present in smokeless gunpowder, which is at the core of almost every bullet in America. According to Solution Sensors, the current model developed is able to detect a “loaded .38 caliber pistol in a closed car trunk from about 9 feet away”. Additionally, the device offers both practical and portable solution as its “small enough to be carried by someone walking on the street”.

The Potential for Greatness

Only six months after the company has obtained proper funding it will work towards making a “digitized” version. By doing so, Solution Sensors claims it will be both “easy to use with minimal chance of error” and “small enough to be carried for daily use”. Once the sensor becomes “user-friendly” they claim they will be able to “release a portable prototype able to alert the user to the presence of gunpowder with minimal error”. Then, after the sensor is converted to a “user-friendly version” they will then look to their “backers” for ideas such as wearing it on articles of clothing such as a “vest or jacket” “hidden in a doorway or hallway”, and even “clipped on your belt”.

Balance Between Both Sides

While controversy remains around gun regulations and the right to bear arms, the world is calling for immediate solutions. Locked in a debate, it might be an eternity before a political and/or legal solution is realized. Meanwhile, innovators turn their focus towards less debate, and more action, using technology as a proactive tool for prevention. Could this work and possibly offer a balance between those who are fearful of the government enforcing stricter regulations for gun control and those who support rigorous regulations? Potentially. This technology may have the potential to prevent the kind of mass violence we see every day on television. While further development and mass adoption would occur down the road, at least we would be moving in the right direction.

The Other Piece Of The Puzzle

Sensing a shooter means we are warned, but there is much more to preventative measures than that. While sensing a shooter is part of the equation there are other pieces needed to fall in line. Isolating the shooter, engaging with law enforcement, and then ultimately apprehending the suspect. As an example perhaps a trigger system such as an alarm and locks could be to be configured with this sensor as a logical next step. The sensor could detect a shooter from afar and then trigger a locking mechanism in a school to prevent the armed individual from entering. This is all hypothetical, but certainly within the grasp of our current technological capabilities.

There are so many possibilities with these devices going far beyond what many can even imagine. The sensor itself may be physically attached to law enforcement officials, the perimeters of buildings and perhaps even deployed using drone technology. Could a drone use this technology to stand in between an armed individual and a potential victim? Possibly, anyone else?

Peace Of Mind

Although this technology has been around for many months it could make its way to the “digitized” state soon. Once the technology is fully developed, Solution Sensors may show the world how technology could be the ultimate solution. We are hopeful that pioneers like the folks at Solution Sensors will continue to find creative solutions to complex problems. Our job is to make sure you hear about them and help create momentum behind great product development.
