Booming Cities in Tech: Not the usual suspects!

When you think of booming tech, Silicon Valley and New York City likely come to mind. However, when cost of living is accounted for, these hot spots can quickly burn up even the most competitive salaries.

Even as remote work becomes more typical, many still prefer to reside near their workplace. So where can you link up with an exciting tech industry and still plant your roots affordably??

Surprisingly, Portland and Denver are among the top metropolitan areas to find yourself if you are in the tech industry. As tech salaries continue to rise in these areas, cost of living remains much lower than other metro areas. As Fortune 500 companies like Amazon and Facebook (or Meta) open offices in these lower profile cities, young talent are drawn to the area. Large talent pools then lead to more successful homegrown tech companies, and thus, the circle of life continues – tech edition.

Of course, with these metropolitan areas beginning to boom, it’s likely only a matter of time before the cost of living follows. But for now, the ratios lend for a nice balance!
